Divecha Centre for Climate Change, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru

The Divecha Centre for Climate Change at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, invites applications for the following position on a purely contractual basis. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year and may be extended annually based on satisfactory performance.

1. Researcher / Instructor

• Number of Positions: 1

• Emoluments: ₹67,000 per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA). An increment of ₹6,000 will be provided for each additional year of relevant experience, subject to a maximum of four such increments.

• Essential Qualifications:

A Ph.D. from a recognized university with a minimum of two years of post-doctoral teaching and/or research experience.

• Age Limit: Maximum 45 years.

• Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

• Doctoral degree with domain expertise in the economic and social dimensions of climate change mitigation and adaptation.
• Background as a developmental economist or researcher with experience in climate policy, economic and social inequality, sustainable development, and the interlinkages between technology and society.
• Proficiency in handling large-scale datasets and use of statistical software.
• Experience in econometric modelling is preferred.
• Excellent academic writing skills, strong organizational and communication abilities, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Job Responsibilities:

• Research and Analysis (50%): Conduct research, data analysis, and preparation of policy briefs.
• Outreach and Coordination (50%): Organize events and contribute to science-policy outreach activities.
